5 Questions With Caitlin Schaefer

The face behind Caitlin Schaefer Energy Healing, she shares her experience in starting a business locally and her favourite hidden gem in the Gympie region.

  1. What made you start this business locally?

I recently moved closer to the Gympie area and found the most beautiful and welcoming space at 38 Nash Street to grow my practice, somewhere local for clients that felt warm and inviting.

  2. What’s something people misunderstand about the work you do?

One of the biggest misconceptions is that kinesiology is either ‘woo-woo’ or all about sports taping! Progressive Kinesiology is actually a gentle, holistic therapy that uses muscle monitoring to identify stress and imbalances within the body. It works with the whole person – emotional, physical, chemical and energetic – and can support people experiencing stress, digestive concerns, sleep issues and many other health challenges.

  3. What’s your favourite hidden gem in the area?

Farmer & Sun Café is one of my favourites, but honestly there are so many little hidden gems in the area. One of the things I love most about the area is that every time I explore, I seem to find another beautiful café or local business.

  4. What’s the toughest part of running a local business?

Probably building visibility as a newer face in the area. Kinesiology isn’t always a well-known modality, so part of the challenge is helping people understand what it is and how it can help them, while also just getting the word out that I’m here.

  5. What do you appreciate most about the Gympie community?

The sense of community has been incredible. I work within a clinic here with some wonderful practitioners who have been so welcoming and supportive, and it’s made settling into Gympie feel easy. There’s a genuine willingness among local businesses to encourage and support one another, which is really special.
